Sorry for the long silence. Had been busy clicking away on my camera as well as doing post-processing on many sets of photos lately. Here are sneak peaks of what I’m currently working on…

I am a Malaysian female photographer based in Kuala Lumpur/Selangor that loves any kind of photography listing from nature to skyscrapers, weddings & events, and especially portraitures for pregnant families, newborn babies, couples & families.
I am also an avid scuba diver which enables me to capture amazing underwater images from all around the world.
This blog follows both my professional life (as well as) some of my personal life, featuring “MOMENTS” from the maternity & newborn sessions, weddings & beautiful people I managed to capture with my lens, the places I travel and the friends and family members that mean so much to me.
It also contains random information source for my current and potential clients as I’ll (from time to time) provide some useful links of wedding tips & what-nots for your ”surfing” pleasures. I hope this blog will also be a source of inspiration and education for other photographers.
This site is a little more informal and I just want to give everyone a sense of who I am, and what I am all about.
Do feel absolutely free to leave comments or post questions. You can also contact me further at enquiry@astherlau.com for other booking enquiries.

Wow… thank you so much for the motivating comments ya all! Okay… due to high demand, here are a few more shots taken from my first studio experience recently. Make-up by Siew Mun.
Adeline was in this gorgeous long wedding dress! Sigh… Makes me wana get married all over again!
I asked her to do a little playful twist with this cute knee-length dress.
Looking sweet in a Kebaya styled wedding dress

Another of my idea of flower tossing action. Adeline was an excellent actress!
I know this series lack many other elements which can make my work pops even more. Upon doing more research & comparing this series with other international photographer pros, I decided what I’ve achieved so far is just a tinie-winnie bit to what I can do in the future. I’ll continue learning & improving my capabilities and skills. And especially to broaden my creativity aspect of photography & people. The Sky is the Limit!
Oh well… I’d have posted a few more images of Adeline, especially of the delicious details on the dresses and of her sweet sweet smiles but I realised only moments ago that the idiot me accidentally saved my work in my other hard disk and not on this laptop! Arrrggghhh!
Never mind… Will post some more up on my Flickr page and pretty soon on my new photography website which will be officially launched pretty soon! So stay tuned and in the meantime, drop me a line or two, ya!
Have a wonderful week ahead!
P/S: I’m currently back in Kuching to be with mum as coming Monday will be one year since daddy left us unexpectedly. Past few days was kind of like a roller-coaster ride on my emotional state when I remember back of what happened exactly a year ago.
Thanx to Alex Moi, I had a wonderful opportunity to shoot in a studio environment with a “REAL” model! I got to shoot with a “makeshift” studio backdrop system as well as a studio lighting setup which surprisingly turned out to be really simple yet delivers excellent environment for a portrait shootout indoor AS WELL AS outdoor.
I woke up really early (which is not normal for me UNLESS I’m working of course!) & went down to a morning market nearby where I stay, hoping to get some really nice fresh roses for the shoot. However, the florist didn’t have much selection that morning, so I decided to drive down to Petaling Street for more flower shopping! I LOVE all the florists in Petaling Street! SOOOOOO many different flowers to choose from and they’re cheap cheap cheap! Hehehe…
And I managed to make one hand bouquet right before leaving for the studio. Did I tell you that I made my own hand bouquets & corsages for my wedding in KL last year?
Too bad I didn’t get the chance to shoot with the hand bouquet cos time constraints & there were like 4 of us shooters taking turns on the lighting system with ONE model. Sigh…
Anyway… we had great fun with the flowers I bought, as well as other silly stuffs that we could get our hands on from the studio for the model to play with… *wink*
Here are 2 of my favorite shots from the day of Adeline Lee, the 1st runner up of Malaysian Dreamgirl 1st Online Series 2008. She’s just so photogenic & a wonderful model to work with… I love her soft yet flexible personality. Oon loves her smile! Hahaha…
Hehehe… nope… it’s not a shot for ACER advertising. Just that Oon (one of us photographer at the shoot) owns this laptop & he came up with the idea as another prop for Adeline to play with for our shoot.

Isn’t she lovely? Yup… one of the flowers I bought as another prop for our shoot. *wink*

So what do you think? Not so bad for a first timer, eh? ;) I know I know… Self Praise Is NO Praise. Hehehe… But I’d love to hear what you think bout my work here. There are many more yummy photos that I like in my collection so I’ll try to make some time to post up more here later. So come back later or just subscribe to my RSS feed. It’s easy! Till then… have a wonderful weekend! I know I will!

We just got back from Penang yesterday evening. We were at my uni-mate, Gary Gan’s wedding on Saturday. As much as I try not to pick up my cameras & shoot their wedding, and just enjoy the beautiful moments surrounding the beautiful radiant couple, I just couldn’t resist to take a few shots that day.
It was great catching up with some old friends back from Hawaii days. Finally darling get to meet more of my friends & share my memories with them. Most are happily married, some are going to get married pretty soon, and some even have a few juniors of their own already! Sigh… how time flies…

And blogs about our wedding by Peter Cheong, Alex Moi and Grace Tan.
I’ve finally completed the wedding slideshow series and burnt them in a DVD for each of our dearest family & friends. Will be sending to your doorstep pretty soon!
Meanwhile… I’ve been busy with a friend visiting KL for a whole week as well as taking photos & editing them. Here are a few of them taken recently.
During Derrick & Jennifer’s Wedding. Derrick was darling’s old classmate from Primary School! I only met Derrick during our wedding dinner reception back in December last year and I finally met his wife on the eve of their wedding day! Hahaha… I’m really honored to be given such trust & opportunities during their special day.

This one was my 1st experiment with shadows using my newly purchased pocket torchlight.
Simple Yet Elegant
My first automotive launching event at The Hilton at KL Central. Darling & his colleagues gave me a rare chance to experience their Triton Launch which was only for the media people. They served really yummy snacks!

My closest cousins, Leonard & Claudia wanted to have their personal portraits taken with their work uniforms. Both work for Malaysia Airline. We hung out at Putrajaya for nearly 6 hrs & we had great fun together. Well… They had fun changing clothes & posing for me while I had a blast “directing” them clicking my shutters away. I wasn’t allowed to post their photos with their uniforms so here are a few of them in casual wears.
I just love the sunray penetrating thru the crevices of this massive metal feature. My first succesful attempt of taking photos to capture the rays of the sun at the back of my subject.

Cuz Claudia looks stunning in this new dress which was a gift from her brother, Leonard.

I’m in the midst of making a series of slideshows that will cover the whole events of our wedding celebration. A DVD will be given to our family members & close friends and I hope I’ll be able to complete the whole series before Chinese New Year! Here’s the 1st part of our DVD slideshow compilation.

My God-Sister finally got hitched! I was given the honor to be her official wedding photographer and dear darling helped me as my 2nd shooter.
She’s such a natural infront of the camera, whilst, He’s such a dork! Hahaha… I thank the Almighty for showering the people I love HIS unconditional blessings & love.
Here are a few moments we managed to capture that very memorable day.
